Frequently Asked Questions
What gets measured gets managed. We currently center our societal accounting around profit, which leaves us with under-measured ecological and social side effects which are now severe enough that the pose a systemic risk to both our economic system and our wellbeing. Because of this, we have agreement at the highest international levels that it is time to move beyond GDP and make the wellbeing of current and future generations our joint goal. Multiple countries are working through the practicalities of budgeting and measuring progress around wellbeing targets, and communities globally are reorganizing themselves around a goal of long-term wellbeing for all. Moving towards this means learning what actually makes us happy and investing our resources—human, social, financial, ecological and physical–in optimizing wellbeing at all levels. It means developing tools to help us prioritize at a personal level—what can we let go of without affecting our wellbeing? What do we need to hold on to–hard? What goals should we paddle towards with every bit of love in our hearts, strategy in our heads, and strength in our hands—powering forward despite cross breezes and waves that try to knock us off course? There is no safety in the status quo–preserving health and the supply chains and infrastructure our health systems depend on requires a paradigm shift to an explicit focus on wellbeing.
Protecting wellbeing requires expertise in health systems, social systems, and ecological systems.

We aim to connect content expertise to policy and communications know-how and caring community members in order to ensure evidence-based, ethics-driven, power-informed influence on decision making at all levels.
These will connect thinkers working on aspects of planetary health and wellbeing economies at Canada’s public post-secondary institutions with planetary health and wellbeing conversations happening in their communities, as well as liaising with other nodes and the national coordinating body. Indigenous knowledge and perspectives are to be integrated into each node
